Magdalene Bike Tour
This 19 km bike ride takes you from Park Abbey past the Sacred Heart Institute and Arenberg Castle through Heverlee Forest to Vaalbeek's Magdalene Chapel or vice versa. They are all pearls of our cultural-historical heritage. You cycle with the ErfgoedApp as your guide on forest roads such as the Grezweg and the Prosperdreef, for centuries the connecting roads with the southern part of the country before the construction of the Naamsesteenweg (1755). You pass by the traces of the presence of the lords of Heverlee, the Croys and the Arenbergs. You experience how these noblemen organized hunting and forest management. Along the way you will learn a great deal about history and nature.
The links with the Abbey and the influence of the Annunciate Sisters in the areas of religion and education (especially in the 19th and 20th centuries) will also become clear.
