Meerdaal chapels cycling tour 1
During this 18 km bike ride between the Mary Magdalene Chapel of Vaalbeek, Park Abbey and the Sacred Heart Institute of the Annunciates Sisters, we discover many small and large chapels. They testify to the great influence of Christian devotion and of the Church on people's lives. A chapel was erected in honor of a saint. It was a place of prayer, to ask favors or seek solace, sometimes erected out of gratitude. You will pass by some monastic chapels and a castle chapel. Larger chapels allowed some religious services to take place. Discover these gems of folk art with a story or architectural masterpieces with a history. Enjoy the tour with the help of the ErfgoedApp, along the way and afterwards also at home. This tour is part of the 55 km long Meerdaal chapels cycling tour which runs entirely around Heverlee forest and Meerdaal forest.
