Swept by history

Today, the Zwin is an attraction for day-trippers, with about 200,000 visitors coming to admire the region's nature every year. But did you know that the Zwin region also has a rich history? With a number of history students from Ghent University, we made an interactive walk that guides you through the Zwin region's past by means of audio fragments. The sheep, the tourist, the nature manager and the farmer each tell stories about the Zwin region's history from their perspective. We start in the early Middle Ages and move through time while walking to end in the 21st century.

This ten-kilometer walk starts at the bus stop on the Oosthoekplein in Knokke and follows the last kilometers of the Streek-GR Kust. The route continues through the Zwin Nature Park to finally end back at the Oosthoekplein. Have fun hiking!
