Royal Walking in Berchem

In 1911, the City Council of Berchem approved the construction of a new quarter on the grounds of the Schom and the Mills outside the Brialmont Wall (now Ring around Antwerp). Popularly known as the Pulhof. Already in 1913, street names referring to the Belgian Royal House were chosen and this trend continued in the 1950s. Four pleasure gardens were also located here: Troyentenhof, Strijdhof, Ruytenborgh and Hof ter Schrieck. Of these architectural gems, only traces remain, which we are happy to pursue with you.
