Marian Ommegang Nazareth
Since the 13th century, Mary has been venerated in Nazareth. It began with a
maria statue in a tree somewhere in the Nazareth woods. The first traces
of a circumambulation can already be found in the 14th century.
Over the centuries, the Marian circumambulation has known varying degrees of success. Since 1904, it has had its permanent form as we still know it today and goes out annually on Sept. 8, Mary's birthday. By corona, the ommegang faces another challenge. To give everyone a chance to experience the circumambulation, it is now also available digitally, to experience the Marian Ommegang of Nazareth at your own pace, in your own bubble.
