Fresh Water Tour
The Sweet Water Tour. Hiking, sports and unique enjoyment in an ancient hinge area between Heverlee forest and Meerdaal forest!
Het Zoet Water is the visual signpost par excellence of the municipality of Oud-Heverlee and an important center of the municipality. The heritage site breathes the history of the Lords of Arenberg and of Steenbergen, is of tourist and economic importance because of its many restaurants and the famous playground, but last but not least, it is also of cultural and religious importance, and in particular with regard to nature and art.
This tour in the middle of this rare piece of Flemish nature is a truly unique experience. You will also pass by some iconic buildings from the history of these Fresh Water Ponds: among others, the Chapel of Our Lady of Steenbergen, the former castle of O.-L.-L.Vrouw of Steenbergen, the former castle of Steenbergen - now Spanish Roof and once inhabited by the family Van Wesele (Vesalius), inn 'In de Molen' referring to the former mill next to it, the former 'Jachthof' - now Aqua Dulce and last but not least the 'brasserie Saint-Jean' on the corner, an inn from the beginning of the 20th century.
