Memories of WWI in Kortrijk

100 years ago, Kortrijk was an occupied city.

The Germans exploited the inhabitants. Allied bombs sowed fear and destruction. Thousands of Kortrijk residents lived in terror.

Those who could still tell the story are no longer with us. That is why we are trying to keep these memories alive with this walking route.

The route takes you past many memorable buildings and locations. On the signs along the route (marked by poppies), you’ll find photos and stories of those same places during wartime. Through this app, you’ll get to see or hear additional content along the way.
