Landscapes Koekelare - The Ribbon

This immersive tour through Koekelare’s wartime history and landscape can be explored at your own pace and using your own means of transportation—on foot, by bike, or by car. The route forms a sort of “ribbon” through the municipality, stretching from the German military cemetery in Vladslo to the Lange Max Museum. You’ll be taken past 11 locations that played a significant role in the German presence in our region. At each location, you’ll find more information on signs and in the ErfgoedApp. Hundreds of yellow ribbons along the way guide you along the right path, referencing the song “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Old Oak Tree.”

Highlights along the route include two new works of art as well as the uncovering of the German training trench system in Koekelarebos.
