Stumbling Stones in Deurne - South
In Deurne, you’ll find Stolpersteine embedded in the sidewalk at various locations. These are commemorative plaques honoring victims of World War II. Jewish families in the neighborhood had few choices during the war years: obey the strict regulations, flee, go into hiding, or resist. Of the approximately 500 Jews in Deurne, 260 never returned home. Discover the stories of persecution and exclusion, but also of courage, resistance, and hope.
The walk in Deurne-Zuid consists of two parts. The second part starts at point 14 at Jozef Verbovenlei 38.
Another walk starts in Deurne-Noord.
The walk is organized by the citizens’ initiative ‘Stumbling Stones in Deurne’ in collaboration with the ErfgoedLab and narrated by Geertje De Ceuleneer.
