An animal on your plate?
Meat, or no meat on your plate? That choice isn’t always easy to make. Health considerations, cultural and religious traditions, and concerns about the climate often lead us to choose to eat less meat, or none at all.
On the route we’ll take through Leuven’s city center, you’ll explore how meat production and consumption have evolved over time—from cattle markets, slaughterhouses, and butcher shops to the kitchen and the plate, whether at home or in a restaurant. Vegetarianism also has its own history, with numerous traces throughout the city center.
