AfricaMuseum - Temporary exhibition: Art sans pareil

AfricaMuseum - Temporary exhibition: Art sans pareil

The exhibition focuses on art history. The large central display cases present a significant collection of artistic works in the fields of masks, statuary, carved ivory, and “utilitarian” art. Almost all of the pieces on display come from the Congo and date primarily from the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.

Other display cases address more specific topics such as the concept of beauty in Africa, the European perspective on African works, the artist’s identity, and stylistic analysis.
