Tour of Donkmeer
Ventiel is a true cycling enthusiast and your guide for the day. He’ll ride along with you and talk nonstop about everything there is to see: Donkmeer Lake, the duck decoy, Nieuwdonk, peat pits, and the natural surroundings. But every now and then, he might get a little stuck and need your help. Can your family solve the riddles and puzzles? If so, you’ll reach the final destination. Then the most beautiful meanders of the Scheldt in the Scheldt Delta Geopark will hold no more secrets for you.
• The tour is about 10 km and takes approximately 2 hours.
• There are 15 stops where you’ll watch a short video.
• At 11 locations, you’ll also receive a challenge. The challenges include a variety of hands-on activities, solving riddles, and using your senses.
• Starting point: Donkmeer Welcome Gate, Donklaan 123 Berlare, near A. Nelenpad
• Bike rental available (052432560, toerisme@berlare.be, https://www.berlare.be/toerisme)
• You will be provided with a waterproof backpack containing the materials you need to complete the challenges (including 1 phone mount for your bike).
• Please bring your own: water, a snack, and a packed lunch.
• You must depart by 2:30 PM at the latest.
• Public restrooms along the route are available at the Onthaalpoort and at the Nieuwdonk Provincial Park (during opening hours)
