Walking with Charles Pil - Oudenburg
On this walk, discover the work of architect Charles Pil (1867–1949). From the late 19th century onward, Pil was one of the most prolific architects in West Flanders. After completing his studies, he moved to Ostend but remained active in various other cities and towns.
In Oudenburg, Charles Pil primarily built townhouses. A common thread running through these buildings is the striking eclectic style he employed. Among other projects, Pil designed several residences commissioned by the Laroye family of Oudenburg, such as the buildings on Weststraat and Vaartstraat
Take a stroll through Oudenburg and discover Charles Pil’s buildings and their stories during this city walk.
This route is part of the supra-local project “Charles Pil 1867–1949.”
