Walking with Charles Pil - Lo-Reninge

Walking with Charles Pil - Lo-Reninge

On December 21, 1867, Charles Pil (1867-1949) saw the light of day in little Lo. Coming from a peasant family, after his studies as an architect he went to Ostend where he built many stately villas and mansions. After World War I he returned to his native village together with Henri Carbon (1882-1950) and helped rebuild it. After all, both Lo and Reninge had been totally destroyed and rapid reconstruction was imperative.

From 1920 onwards, the architect duo Pil & Carbon would make a huge contribution. Get to know Lo-Reninge and its war past during this heritage walk and discover the many preserved buildings by the architect duo Charles Pil and Henri Carbon.

This route is part of the supra-local project "Charles Pil 1867-1949".
