Franciscan Walk

Franciscan Walk

This 3km walk is ideal for those who prefer a short walk and still want to get to know the historical significance of the Maria Magdalena chapel and the influence of the monastery and the training and reflection center of the Franciscan fathers and La Foresta (1951-2019). The Franciscans are also committed to pastoral life in the Maria Magdalena chapel. Local associations could always go to the monastery for sports, relaxation and reflection. The fathers and brothers built their art center 'Pro Arte Christiana' here. Visit the cemetery with more than 180 graves of these Friars Minor. Many learned and meritorious fathers find their final resting place there against the edge of the forest. Think of the artist fathers Geroen Debruycker and Rik Van Schil and of Prof. Van Breda, who saved the Husserl archive from the hands of the Nazis and transferred it to the University of Leuven.
