Traveling through time and space between Poesele, Vinkt, and Meigem

During the early days of World War II, the municipalities of Vinkt, Meigem, and Poesele were intense battle zones that claimed many lives on both the German and our side.
Now, 85 years later, we have been able to distance ourselves from those events both in time and space. How the community deals with such trauma varies from village to village. We’ll take you to three locations that played a crucial role during those May days. But where, since then, many positive developments have also taken place.

Repurposing sites in a changing society presents quite a few challenges. Goed ten Briele (the fourth location on this tour) beautifully demonstrates that a clean slate with modern construction techniques is not a prerequisite for preserving heritage values. A unique story!
