Staf Pyl: Stained glass windows in Eeklo

As part of the “Night of the Meetjesland Churches,” ELS Eeklo is organizing a walking tour featuring the works of stained-glass artist Staf Pyl. A fitting description of Staf Pyl (1923–2007) from Sint-Niklaas is that of a creative jack-of-all-trades, an inspiring artist, and, above all, a master craftsman. He is best known for his stained-glass windows, which can mainly be seen in Sint-Niklaas and the surrounding area. In addition to stained glass and glass-in-concrete, Staf also produced ceramics and paintings early in his career. He belongs to the group of stained-glass artists who thoroughly revitalized post-war stained-glass art.
