Den Aeman walk
The Den Aeman walking tour immerses you in the rich history of Waterland-Oudeman, once known as Sint-Nicolaas-in-Vaerne.
Waterland-Oudeman was once a true moer village, founded by the monks of the legendary Elmare Priory. Throughout the Middle Ages, numerous floods ravaged this region. At the end of the 15th century, Hiëronymus Lauwerijn began draining the polders. Waterland-Oudeman was not spared during the Eighty Years’ War either.
