Cycling route past vanished breweries in Affligem

The cycling loop through Affligem is signposted and passes by sites that once housed breweries.
Hekelgem leads the way with 48 brewers or families of brewers in 26 breweries. The list is likely incomplete and could be expanded.
Essene may well have the best-known, best-preserved brewery and probably also the largest brewery, which has just been restored by the new owner.
As for Teralfene, despite being a distinct hop-growing community (at the time, one could walk from one end of the village to the other through hop fields), we find only one brewery.

The route starts at the abbey’s entrance gate. First, you ride toward the abbey church to the Benedictus Gate; then you turn back and continue following the route.
At the sites where a brewery once stood, you’ll automatically see a sign with brief information.
