Voices from Stone - Sacred houses in pictures
Our heritage walk takes you past unique sites where craftsmanship, respect for the past, and innovative vision come together.
A Different Way to Discover
This walk is not a traditional guided tour. We invite you to first experience the buildings from the outside at the designated sites. Explore the surroundings, look at the facades, and study the architectural details. Observe how the building relates to its surroundings, the materials, the design, and the way light falls on the exterior. Take your time to look. What does this building tell you from its exterior?
If you notice that a site is accessible—during opening hours, events, or simply because the doors are open—we warmly encourage you to go inside as well. Walk through the spaces, feel the atmosphere, let the architecture speak to you from the inside. These moments offer a unique opportunity to experience the full story.
The informative flyer then provides a concise yet insightful overview of what Steenmeijer Architects has achieved at this site. Not an exhaustive technical explanation, but the essence of our design process and our vision—including insights into how the interior spaces were designed.
Why This Unique Approach?
You experience heritage most intensely when you encounter it with an open mind. By first looking at the exterior yourself, studying the architecture, and soaking up the atmosphere, an authentic connection with the building and its history is formed. Our flyer then becomes the key that unlocks new layers of meaning—both regarding what you have observed yourself and the hidden stories of the interior spaces—thereby enriching your own experience.
