From the Rectory to the Radium Factory and the Radium Museum

We start at the rectory in downtown Olen, heading toward the Buulmolen, the locks, and the marina. On the left, we’ll see the former landfill, and across from it, the Aurubis copper factory. Taking the first path to the left, we’ll pass the old Radium landfill. You can read about its history on a sign by the fence. We then arrive at the "Olens Broek" nature park and Roerdompstraat next to the farm—which is now abandoned—to make way for the meandering of the Nete River at that location. Then we head back to the canal via Borgeleien to “den Thijs” and on to Sas 9. Via easily navigable roads, we visit the Chapel of Meren and the Shopping Park with the cartoons, then on to the Radio Museum and the renovated village square, to the restored church, and back to the rectory.
