Past and Present walk in Oudenaarde

Past and Present walk in Oudenaarde

Nearly 300 years ago, engineer Nicolas de Nézot created a detailed model of the city of Oudenaarde and its ramparts. The model was commissioned by King Louis XV of France, who saw it as a useful tool for planning the movements of his occupying forces. Today, the model is housed at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille. It is a unique historical document that illustrates the city’s evolution.
During this exploration, we’ll search for remnants of the city’s rich past. You can zoom in on the photo of the model on the last slide of each presentation.
