Closed/open doors
Are you curious about the diverse religious and philosophical traditions found in Bruges?
This walking tour offers a glimpse behind doors that often remain closed. At nine stops along the way, you’ll meet Anglicans, Hindus, Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Protestants, Roman Catholics, liberal humanists, YOT vzw, and (Zen) Buddhists.
You’ll pause briefly at their designated spots, and in a short video, a member of each community or philosophical organization will introduce themselves, along with their origins, symbols, and rituals.
Another important note: the mosque and the stop related to Buddhism/Hinduism are located outside the walking route in the center of Bruges, but are still included in the route. Simply click on the marked points to view them. Bruges does not have its own synagogue (the nearest one is in Ostend) and is therefore not included in this route.
This route is an initiative of Erfgoedcel Brugge, Diversiteitsdienst Brugge, Vormingplus regio Brugge, S-wan, YOT vzw, CCV, and ZoWe.
