Closed/open doors

Would you like to learn about the rich tapestry of beliefs and convictions in the city of Bruges? This itinerary takes you on a journey to discover places whose doors are often closed to the public. Through nine stops, you’ll meet Anglicans, Hindus, Muslims, Orthodox Christians, Protestants, Roman Catholics, liberal humanists, the YOT non-profit, and Buddhists (Zen). You will also discover their places of worship, and in a video, a member of each community or religious organization will introduce themselves and provide more information about their origins, symbols, and rituals.

Another important point: the mosque and the stop related to Buddhism/Hinduism are located outside the main route in the city center of Bruges, but are still included in the itinerary. Simply click on the marked points to view them. The city of Bruges does not have its own synagogue (the nearest one is located in Ostend), which is why it is not included in the itinerary.

This itinerary is an initiative of the City of Bruges Heritage Unit, the City of Bruges Diversity Department, the VormingPlus Center (Bruges region), the non-profit organization S-Wan, the non-profit organization YOT, the CCV, and ZOWE.
