With VIJDLAND, you will discover the world of Joos Vijd, commissioner of the world-famous Ghent Altarpiece and, above all, a true native of Beveren. This multimedia experience takes you past breathtaking castles and gardens, a bustling world port, and diked polders.
In five video and five audio clips, well-known Flemish personalities, together with contemporary descendants of Joos Vijd, recount the wonderful history of the Land of Waas.
Beveren is one of the largest rural municipalities in Flanders and has a major international port on its territory. The fragile balance between people, nature, and the economy is more evident here than anywhere else. And in Joos Vijd's time, this was no different. So be sure to come and discover Vijland.
