Wonderful story, delightful garden

Welcome to the site of the former Saint Geertrui Abbey! It is a remarkable piece of town in the center of Leuven. An oasis of calm too, through which the Dijle, omnipresent in Leuven, flows its way. The fascinating ensemble dates from various times, but was mainly (re)built after the First and Second World Wars. The church with its extraordinary open tower has also been largely reconstructed. And there is the delightful old monastery garden, now a tree park.
