Everyone out to sea! Vacation colonies in Koksijde and Nieuwpoort

Vacation colonies were a fixture on the Belgian coast for a hundred years. Many still remember their stay vividly. Maybe you do too?
From the end of the nineteenth century, charitable organizations sent children to the sea. The weak and sick children strengthened here in the healthy outdoors, far away from the industrial cities.
This bicycle tour takes you along fifteen vacation homes in Koksijde, Oostduinkerke and Nieuwpoort. Discover their story.
