On December 21, 1867, Charles Pil (1867-1949) was born in the small town of Lo. Coming from a farming family, he moved to Ostend after completing his studies as an architect, where he built many stately villas and mansions. After the First World War, he returned to Ostend with Henri Carbon (1882-1950).
