Antwerp Remembers - V-bomb terror
A month after liberation, in October 1944, the terror of the V-bombs begins. The German army command starts a months-long bombardment with so-called "flying bombs. The anti-aircraft units of "Antwerp X" try to protect the city and its population. But the toll is high. An estimated 3,000 civilians and 600 Allied soldiers are killed. More than 5,000 people are wounded. Large parts of Antwerp lie in ruins.
With this app, walk past the affected places and listen to the stories of the people who experienced the bombing. Before you start, you can watch the video at the top.
This walk was commissioned by the City of Antwerp, as part of Antwerpen Herdenkt.
